Guru Institute started back in 2007, out of a small setup in Sector 34A, Chandigarh. Back then, there wasn’t really any solid coaching for CSIR NET or IIT-JAM in the city — students had to travel to Delhi or elsewhere just to get proper guidance. We figured that gap needed filling, so we started here.
That was 18 years ago. Since then, over 25,000 students have studied with us, and a good number of them are now professors, researchers, or JRF holders working in their fields. We don’t bring that number up to brag — it’s more of a reminder of how much responsibility comes with it.
CSIR-UGC JRF/NET (Chemical Science, Life Science, Physical Science, and Mathematical Sciences), DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, IIT-JAM, M.Sc. entrance exams, several GATE subjects, plus CUET, PUCET, and Master Cadre / TGT-PGT prep.
The way faculty is set up is fairly simple — whoever specialises in a subject teaches that subject, full stop. No single teacher tries to cover the entire syllabus alone. Batches are kept small on purpose, so students actually get time with the faculty and doubts don’t pile up unanswered.
Classes run both online and offline. A fair number of our students these days join from outside Chandigarh through the online mode.
